Chief is a handsome, well-put-together horse. He’s about nine years old ― a relative youngster in the scheme of things. Our trainers have been working with Chief to undo some negative feelings he has about being ridden, and he’s doing really well. He is willing, but he just needs to know that you know what you are doing, and you aren’t going to hurt him. He will make a wonderful riding partner for someone who is confident, knowledgeable and kind.
Chief came to us from the Kanab area and has settled well into life at Horse Haven. He is friends with Curly Sue, so I often stop by to say hello to them when my path takes me through the Sanctuary’s lower canyon. This large pasture gives the herd room to amble and soak up the warm winter sun.
