Cowboy and Pancho are great friends, and on a sunny afternoon they were caught napping together. Horses will only lay down to sleep when they feel really safe. In this case we aren’t sure if it’s their other horse friend or the turkeys that made them feel so secure. But it doesn’t matter all that much. They are safe, and their enjoyment of the warm sun is written all over their sleepy faces.
When I park at Horse Haven, Titan makes his way to the fence line to see if maybe this time, I have a treat for him. He seems to enjoy the interaction and lives in the hope that soon I'll disregard all the signs that say “No treats” and give him something. He reminds me of a gigantic sweet-tempered mooch. I just love him.
Cowboy is living with his old friend, Roy, as well as a few new friends named Billy Bob and Pancho. He still has some problems with arthritis in his spine, but had a nice summer, thanks in large part to the chiropractic work, acupuncture, and cold laser therapy he has been getting. He's still quite the character and is a staff favorite.
